The History
Ten generations ago, a large, jet black she cat named Mizar and her brother were born. From the get-go, the two were different. They enjoyed causing pain, and after growing up and starting her career as a serial killer, Mizar decided to create a mafia.
Naming it the Midnight Mafia, Mizar quickly asserted her dominance as the first Godmother, using fear and force to keep others in line. She despised any of her kits who came out with gray fur, casting them aside to focus on her black furred kits.
Despite the harshness of their Godmother, the Mafia slowly began to grow. Mizar was eventually killed by one of her children, and her chosen daughter became the next Godmother. The Midnight Mafia grew even stronger after that, and when the clans moved, The Godmother had few problems convincing the Mafia to follow them with her.
As the Midnight Mafia travelled, the second Godmother passed, leaving the Mafia to the third Godmother. Alongside the death of the second Godmother, the dislike for gray furred cats vanished. By the time the reached where the new clans had settled, the group had become more coherent.
However, when they learned that the clan made of assassins was no longer in existence, the Midnight Mafia knew they had struck gold. They quickly planted their roots, marketing themselves as a group of assassins. Eventually though, just assassins turned into what the Mafia is today.

The Positions

Since the Midnight Mafia was formed, it has been tradition that the first born she cat to the previous Godmother will become the next Godmother. Trained from birth, The Godmother is the leader of the Midnight Mafia. She is the one who oversees all transactions in the Mafia, and she is in charge of making sure everyone is paid on time. While not usually the one to go and complete the jobs, she has the ability to do so at any moment. She is usually the largest member of the Mafia, and is almost always the deadliest.
While making sure the Base runs smoothly is her main job, she is also the one who makes sure everyone is loyal to the Midnight Mafia. She will not hesitate to kill or otherwise maim any traitors. Along with that, she is tasked with making sure the whole Mafia is close. She will set up bonding events, and will go and speak to her underlings. She is also tasked with having at least one litter with one of the Sires.
The Consigliere

Usually the oldest of the litter after the new Godmother is chosen of the previous Godmother, The Consigliere is the second in command of the Midnight Mafia. They are trained alongside their sister, and the two are often extremely close. They take care of pretty much anything The Godmother asks them to and are the new leader if The Godmother dies without an heir.
Alongside helping The Godmother with tasks, The Consigliere also acts as an advisor to The Godmother. They are often pretty detached from the world, and are expected to offer the most unbiased opinion they can. They are one of the few cats allowed to tell The Godmother that she is wrong in front of the Mafia. They are also expected to act as a link between The Godmother and the rest of The Family.
The Marketer

The Marketer is always the most charismatic kit in The Godmother’s first litter, and because of that, they are the one in charge of making sure cats know of the Midnight Mafia. They are rarely seen at base, but they are often seen around the boarders of the clans and the twoleg place.
While marketing the Midnight Mafia is a large part of their job, they are also in charge of recruitment. They work closely with The Shadow to figure out what cats should be approached for recruitment. Some of The Marketer’s use regular tactics, such as persuasion, manipulation, and promises of protection, while others have been known to use less savory tactics.
The Shadow

The Shadow is usually the smallest of The Godmother’s first litter, and is often black furred, though it isn’t impossible for cats of other colors to take up the position. The Shadow is the most mysterious of the high ranking cats, mainly because it can be difficult to see that they’re even there. They are in charge of keeping tabs on everything. From potential recruits to members of the Mafia, they know secrets about everyone.
With their job of stalking comes another task- tracking. The Shadow is the one who helps track down runaways and cats who don’t pay. Hiding in the shadows, The Shadow is rarely seen though they hear everything.
The Capos

The Capos are the rest of The Godmother’s children. They don’t have much in terms of power or duties, but they are allowed to give orders to cats.
The Family

Any cat directly related to the founder of the Midnight Mafia. They are seen as a bit higher than the rest of the Mafia, but they hold the same positions as the rest of the Mafia. They also have the added responsibility of guarding The Godmother and the Prisons. Can be any color.
The Assassins

The Assassins are the cats in the Mafia that focus of taking on assassin jobs. They are also very successful when completing the assassin jobs.
The Kidnappers

The Kidnapers are cats that have a knack for kidnapping cats. They are also in charge of making sure their victims don’t die.
The Spies

The Spies are cats that know how to blend in. They are very good a gathering information and are the ones who do so when requested.
The Thieves

The Thieves are cats who are quite good at stealing things. They are often hired to steal things like herbs (though they must be shown an example of the herb before they steal it).
The Others

Cats who don’t fit into any other category. Some of them live in and around the base and pay for protection, others are cats who have used the Mafia’s services and have paid their dues, and others just help out the Midnight Mafia.
The Sires

The Sires are large, jet black, purebred Maine coon toms unrelated to The Godmother who have agreed to father at least one of The Godmother’s litters. They are usually approached due to their fighting prowess, and can be from any background (kittypet, rogue, warrior, etc.) They usually don’t take any jobs, but they aren’t barred from it.
The Trainees

Cats between four and thirteen moons who are in training and are being taught how to kill, steal, spy, and kidnap.
The Prisoners

Cats who have either been kidnapped by the Mafia due to their kidnapping being requested, cats who tried to skip out on payment, and cats who have deeply wronged the Midnight Mafia are kept in the base. They are never called by their own name, just “prisoners”.

*(As The Consigliere, The Marketer, and The Shadow are Mizar III’s siblings, they must look similar. Their mother and father were both large, pure black pure bred Maine coons. The litter has a star naming theme- if you need help coming up with a name, I have a ton to offer. If you had a Mizar I kit, you can remake them. (I believe it’s Captain , Jinxy , owl , Fen , and myself))
