Foxpaw nudged at Drizzlepaw with his shoulder, his small mass not nudging him one bit. "Whatcha drag me all the way out here for again? I was gonna to dig a hole under Quickpaw's nest. Ya know, he'd be half asleep, take a good step onto the edge of it, then a second, and WHOOP! In the hole he goes, tumbling head over tail! Great laugh, eh?" He snickered to himself, thinking the other cat's fake misfortune funny. After a month inside of Ravenclan, he hasn't changed one bit, not even in size. Recently, he'd become an apprentice, which greatly excited him. He couldn't wait to start hunting and stuff!

((I'm prolly gonna have to make one of those templates to keep track of my stuff at some point. So, I see y'all have a hunting roll thing? Wanna use that when it comes to hunting?  Brave ))

Drizzlepaw who walked cautiously along at Foxpaw's side, jumped a little when the small tom bumped his shoulder. Glancing sideways at Foxpaw he blinked his golden yellow gaze at him having almost forgotten he was there. Being so caught up in his own paranoid thoughts, looking around at every little creak of a branch or howl of wind. But now as the tom bounced along at his side, talking animatedly about his plans to prank Quickpaw it was hard to forget his presence. "Oh um..." He mumbles nervously. The truth was he hadn't wanted to 'drag' Foxpaw out into the territory at all. He however had been told to go hunting and take another apprentice with him by his mentor Feathershade. So he'd poked awake the smallest apprentice he could find hoping the tom wouldn't be too angry with him for dragging him out into the cold to hunt.

Fortunately for Drizzlepaw, Foxpaw seemed in good spirits about the situation.  "F-feathershade told me to go hunting and t-take someone along so... so I thought y-you'd like to join." He replies his voice very soft. His big round eyes glancing around them as if he was afraid something was going to jump out at them at any moment and attack. Which he was. Having been catnapped by twolegs as a kit, Drizzlpaw was petrified of being taken again. He however was determined to become a warrior like his sister which meant he would have to overcome his many fears.

"I w-was thinking..." He starts hoping the young red tom would listen to him. "That p-perhaps we could try b-by the river?" He suggests, doing his best not to jump when a clump of snow fell from overhead and landed a few mouselengths behind them. He succeeded just barely, though his eyes had gotten rather round and his tail was tucked firmly between his legs. Hoping Foxpaw wouldn't mind his odd behavior Drizzlepaw waited for a response.

Foxpaw eyes Drizzlepaw for a short moment, noticing his skittishness. He'd heard rumors about the other apprentice. Something to to with twolegs perhaps? It wasn't coming to his mind right at that moment.
Grinning reassuringly, Foxpaw nodded, "Sure, the river's a good choice. Lets get going." He turned and started off.

A few moments later, he turned his head back around, "Oh, and thanks. For inviting me, I mean. Sorry if I was a bit rude just a bit ago you kinda woke me up from a pretty good dream. I appreciate the invite, though. Since I still don't have a mentor, I haven't really got anyone else to practice hunting and stuff with." he said. It'd honestly been less of dreaming and more of remembering. He'd been dreaming of when he'd been a smaller kit, traveling with his three older brothers after his mother's death and his father's leaving. They'd been having a meal. Michael, the eldest brother and Lukas, the second eldest had, for once, not been fighting. In fact, they'd been bickering over who got to eat the sparrow instead. Raphael, the second youngest of the group, had rushed in before they could decide though, stealing the sparrow. How they laughed! Of course that had been before. . . Foxpaw shook himself out of his memories, almost walking straight into a bush.

"Whoops!" he laughed off.

Drizzlepaw was relived that Foxpaw didn't seem to care one bit about being awoken and dragged out into the territory to hunt. He even seemed not to mind Drizzlepaw's suggested hunting place. Relieved, Drizzlepaw quickly turned to follow after his small companion. He was hoping to catch at least one piece of prey for the day. He needed to show Feathershade that her training wasn't being wasted on him, since she seemed not to think very highly of him or his abilities. 

Blinking, the young grey brown tabby had to shake his head to clear it when Foxpaw started talking again. He'd become too wrapped up in his own worries again, forgetting he wasn't alone. Refocusing he nods a little towards Foxpaw. "Oh u-um... y-your welcome." He mews softly, surprised at being thanked. He was starting to feel like Foxpaw had indeed been the right cat to awaken for this hunting patrol. Then when he mentioned how Drizzlepaw had disturbed his dream but he did not mind since he did not have a mentor yet, he couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the tom. 

"I-i'm sure y-you'll get one soon." He tries to reassure the younger apprentice. Feeling a bit guilty, he was much older than most apprentices. In fact, if he'd not been abducted as a kit he would most likely be a warrior by now alongside his sister Creektail. Was he taking up the time of a mentor who could be training a real apprentice aged cat? The idea made his belly sink. But Foxpaw on the other paw seemed not to think like this and when he ran head first into a bush and started laughing Drizzlepaw couldn't help but chuckle after of course jumping with surprise.

Foxpaw felt his cheeks widen with a grin, giddy that his roaming thoughts could cheer the obviously shy, jumpy tom. Once he had heard the tom laugh once, he couldn't help but want to hear it again. As they neared the river, he shivered a bit, "Ugh, water. Good thing it'll freeze over at some point soon. I mean, not that I hate swimming, but water just feels. . . weird on the pelt after you get out. It's all heavy and stuff," he commented absentmindedly. "So, what you aiming to catch?" he asked Drizzlepaw, already scanning the surrounding area for any painfully obvious prey.

Drizzlepaw who couldn't help but be amused by his red furred companion, smiled softly as they continued on. The river was getting closer, the roar of the water now audible as it crashed over the rocks, beneath the ice. At Foxpaw's words he merely shrugged a little. "I've n-never really tried s-swimming..." He admits to the tom, his eyes skimming the water as it came into view. "I never g-got a c-chance to not after...." His voice trailed and he averted his eyes as far from Foxpaw's as he could. He didn't much feel like talking about his past and hoped the tom wouldn't pry.

Glad for the distraction, Drizzlepaw parted his jaws to scent for prey. "W-well I was h-hoping we m-might find s-some water v-voles. I h-hear they like to b-burrow in the snow banks c-closest to the r-river." He explains, crouching some he stalked forward in an attempt to find a scent. Hunting by the river meant his scent and movements were masked by the noise and vibration from the water. It made hunting easier for cats like Drizzlepaw who needed the practice. Suddenly his nose caught a hold of the musky smell of water vole. "I t-think I've found o-one." He whispers to Foxpaw, flickering his tail in the direction of the smell. "Y-you want t-to try an c-catch it or should I-i?" He offers, not really wanting to go first.

"Oh I've swam a few times. I'm not the best, but I'm not the worst either. I you do it when it's really really hot outiside, it feels really really good. I'm sure you'll get a chance at some point." He said, eager to share what little knowledge he had.

It took Foxpaw a little longer to pick up on the water vole scent, he knew for a fact he was like the worst at hunting. "I-I guess I'll try? I'm warning you that I'm not exactly the best at hunting though. Whenever I pounce, I tend to just kinda. . . veer the wrong way," he sheepishly said. He crouched low, following the scent to the best of his ability. Finally, he saw it. It was just kinda sitting there, eating as much grass as it could fit into it's mouth. He steeled himself, preparing to jump.

He leaps onto the vole, landing with an obvious thud, his ears sort of twitch as he recognizes the sound of other voles rushing away from him. He quickly snaps the vole's neck, and looks back at Drizzlepaw. "Oops."

Drizzlepaw listened as Foxpaw talked about swimming. He wasn't sure why but just listening to the young tom speak made Drizzlepaw relax. Perhaps it was just relief from not feeling the need to fill an awkward silence. He didn't need to be the conversationalist to talk with the red tom, it was a nice change. Whiskers twitching some he nods a little. He was not sure he would like swimming but from what Foxpaw had said it didn't seem so bad.

Drizzlepaw was slightly surprised when Foxpaw admitted his hunting skills weren't exactly great. It seemed unlike a lot of young cats he wasn't so concerned with looking good that he'd lie or hide things. Shrugging some Drizzlepaw flickers his tail. "It's a-alright g-give it a try." He whispers, his golden yellow eyes encouraging. He watches as the small red tom crouched, stalking forward. Then with a rather loud thud he pounced landing on his mark and killing the vole. The noise assuring they would have to move on if they wanted to find more prey. 

"You d-did it!" Drizzlepaw says, rising from his crouched position to pad to the younger tom's side. He should of been upset or at least disappointed that Foxpaw had scared away chances of finding more prey but he couldn't find it in himself to care. Foxpaw had managed to catch the vole and that should be what mattered. "We can j-just move further d-down the bank." he adds noticing the guilty look on the tom's face. "The crash of the river ww-will of muffled the s-sound further down."
