Lynxbite \ The Hurt \ To Live
Completely still, Lynxbite let the scent of prey roll over her senses. Her tongue slithered out as she licked her lips in anticipation. Crouched low the she-cat prepared herself for the killing leap. Like a liquid moving, she went from crouch to a perfected jump. Promptly landing on her quarry, she killed it before it could squeak. It was just a mouse, but it's dead eyes still looked fearful as it laid under Lynxbite’s claws. Staring down at it reminded her of RavenClan. Lynxbite still loved to hunt, but everytime she went out alone she could feel something. Every shadow morphed into a tall black cat. Faint flickers of light looked like a pair of devilish yellow eyes. Even now, as the head of her mouse rolled to the side, Lynxbite thought she heard heavy breathing alongside the wind blowing snow around.
Unable to endure even a bit of anxiety, Lynxbite growled. It was a deep dry sound warning everyone to stay away. Without warning, she spun around and her long tail cracked the air like a whip. “Who's there? Show yourself!” She hissed.
Glaring into the deep dark of the night, Lynxbite could see nothing. No matter how hard she looked, there was nothing but snow and leafless trees. The shadows were still and gave away no hidden figure or foe. Grumbling she turned back to her prey. It frustrated her that she was so paranoid about him. He didn't deserve her fear, but he always managed to take it. With an angry snarl, Lynxbite snatched up her prey and prepared to return home. Then she heard something. Faintly beside the rustle of wind, Lynxbite heard him.
And she froze.
