All members must be at least 13 years of age, and though we are a PG-13 forum, we would prefer members to be 16+ years old. Because of our expectations regarding age, we allow swearing.
While we welcome people who are new to roleplaying, we expect you to be able to read the important threads and figure things out on your own. We will answer questions but we will not give you step-by-step instructions on how to do everything. Our application code contains information on filling out every section and our FAQ is filled with answers to common questions. We encourage members to explore the forum, read things, and take their time.
We require roleplay posts to be at least 100 words.
1. Treat others with respect.
Here on EoD we have a zero tolerance policy for harassment in any form. This includes and is not limited to; sexual harassment (this includes jokes of a sexual nature directed at another member as well as implications of any kind), antagonistic remarks or questions directed at others, and confronting others over any personal problems. If you have any concerns about a member’s behavior please contact a staff member. If you have concerns about a staff’s behavior please feel safe to contact a staff member about your concerns. We are here to help in anyway we can and want to resolve conflicts and protect our members.
Staff has the right to decide what constitutes harassment regardless of the nature of the statement/actions in question. Any discrimination of any kind falls under this rule as well.
Members may receive up to 3 official warnings before they are banned from the site and the discord. Cases staff deems as serious will be considered an official warning. The severity of an incident will be discussed by all staff and decided upon by mutual agreement. If an incident involves a staff member they will be excluded from the discussion and are not exempt from receiving official warnings. Some serious cases may include ignoring minor warnings (for instance, when a staff member makes a request several times and is perceived as being intentionally ignored), acting aggressive or impolite towards others of any rank, age, or time on the site, having an anon complaint lobbied against you, or breaking any site, chat, or discord rules. All anon complaints will be investigated. Staff will discuss the extent of an offense and determine how to appropriately handle the situation.
Some warnings may come with temporary bans, partial bans, or complete bans depending on a member’s number of offenses or the severity of the offense. If you receive several ‘small warnings’ about a consistent issue staff reserves the right to deem this an overall problem that will equal an official warning. If this is ever a scenario the member will be informed of the official warning and will be provided documentation collected by staff.
As stated above, members are strongly encouraged to go to staff for conflict resolution. Do not start conflict with another member, instead notify staff and leave it to them to resolve the situation. It was discussed with all of staff whether a mediator should be hired for resolving conflicts that involve members and staff however I have found that task rather difficult to actually do simply because we only have members and staff. If a situation involves a staff member please notify other staff members so they can intervene. A staff member is not exempt from the official site or discord rules and all of staff have signed this document outlining duties and obligations they take on when becoming a staff member on EoD. Please come to us even if it’s something small that bothers you, we want all of EoD to feel this is a community that cares.
2. One account per person. You may have as many characters as you'd like, but they will be played on a single account.
3. We have monthly activity checks. Make sure to post in them so your account is not deleted! If you are going to be away for a while, please either contact Sloth or Mal, or post a message in our Greetings & Goodbyes board.
4. We now have a character limit of 15. You may purchase up to 5 more characters in the shop.
1. Leaders will choose your character's warrior name if they are an apprentice or kit. This does not apply to warriors made via application. There is an item in the store for $500 that allows you to choose an apprentice's warrior name.
2. We only accept realistic eye and fur colors. Cats whose coats are not a majority of white typically cannot have blue eyes; red cats must be some form of tabby; male tortoiseshells and calicoes will be contest prizes and rare litter rolls.
3. Kittens under the age of 6 moons cannot be left on their own for more than a few hours.
4. Kittens under the age of 6 moons cannot be abused. For more information, please visit our FAQ.
5. Characters may have up to two litters. A third may be purchased using on-site currency. This includes litters from a character's history. Miscarried litters are exempt. This rule applies to both female AND male characters.
6. There is a list of approved prefixes and suffixes. You may not use anything but these prefixes and suffixes. Suggestions will not be taken. Some name parts can be used as both prefixes and suffixes (for example, there could be a Flamestrike and a Brightflame). There can be multiple characters in the same Clan with the same prefix (ie, WillowClan can have a Jayfur and a Jayflight). Prefixes and suffixes are not limited to the sex of the character (though we wouldn't recommend naming a tom Vixenkit).
7. Members are required to update applications when their characters rank up. We have a bans/encouragements thread that relies on updated character ranks! To update an application, copy it, add in what you need, and then re-post it to the Pending Applications board with the "Adoption Link" section linking to the old application.
8. You may only have one application posted in the pending board at a time. Finish your WIP and wait for it to be accepted before posting another application.
9. If you no longer wish to play a character, please create a staff request to archive the character. It is really helpful to the staff to know when characters are no longer being played and it also keeps our clan statistics accurate.
1. Godmoding and powerplaying are prohibited.
2. Incestuous characters are not allowed. This includes foster siblings.
3. Characters may be male or female only. They can be non-hetero. If you're interested in the reasoning behind the former part of this rule, the FAQ has a question regarding it.
4. Sexual content should be kept off the site. Innuendos and mild jokes are okay.
5. Characters cannot harm intentionally themselves nor can they commit suicide. If a character needs to hurt themselves to escape and survive, such as biting off their foot to get out of a metal trap, then that is acceptable.
6. Do not make the font size smaller or change the text color in any of your posts. Many people have poor eyesight and do not wish to squint or zoom their browser in to read roleplay posts. We have a variety of forum themes and having a rainbow of text throughout the forum is likely to cause sore eyes. Text color should be black only, regardless of whether or not you are using a posting table.
For the sake of simplicity, both Discord and the Chatango count as chatboxes.
1. Do not advertise anywhere but in the advertising boards. This includes the chatbox. Do not mention other roleplay forums in the chatbox.
2. Do not ask when an application will be reviewed. We'll get to it as soon as we have the time and energy, we promise. Sometimes we don't notice or we need to chat for a little while to relax before we deal with character apps. If it's your first character, then we'll get to it as soon as we see it because you probably want to hop into the roleplay asap; after that, we aren't as likely to drop what we're doing to check the app because you have other characters available to play.
3. Real-world religion and politics are not okay topics.
4. No member-modding. If a staff member is actively answering someone's questions, don't jump in and try to help, because you'll most likely just confuse everyone. We've run forums before and we've seen this scenario play out all too often: A guest asks a question, a nice member unintentionally gives the wrong answer, a staff member corrects them, and the guest is confused. If there is a staff member online but they have not responded, please tag them in the chatbox. If there are no staff members around, feel free to be as helpful as you can.
Further along the line, it is the staff team's job to moderate and enforce rules: unless a staff member is not present, please do not correct others' behavior.
5. No "I want [kit] from [litter]" discussions. It puts pressure on the parents' roleplayers not to pick [kit] because someone else wants it and they don't want to make that person feel bad. In addition, it clogs up the chat and excludes other members from the conversation. We expect members not to push or pressure one another.
6. No explicit conversation topics in the chat. We are a 13+ age group site and conversations should be inclusive and welcoming to all age groups that visit the site. Certain topics may make others feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed and we want to keep this site a friendly place for ALL our members. Not only that but you put our site at risk for termination due to Proboards own rules of conduct. Explicit content includes but is not limited to; heavily graphic information of any kind, inappropriate photos, and controversial topics. If you have to ask if something is inappropriate, then you should assume it is and not bring it up. We will not tolerate repeated offenders and you will be banned from our chatbox if your behavior continues after receiving one warning.
7. Please only tag staff in regards to a question or a concern you may have. Understand we are sometimes busy with other things and would like to make sure we are responding to everyone’s tagging on time. If we don’t we will reply that we will get back to you later.
